Frank Glowacz
Faith
What has been the most influential experience for Glowacz is having Jesus in his life. He received his communion, was confirmed, and went to a preparatory school from the ninth to twelfth grades. He even has cousins who are nuns. He was an alter boy in church, taught CCD, and lead a prayer group at St. Monica’s with his wife. Glowacz’ birthday is on March 16, so he takes the verse John 3:16 to heart: “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” Glowacz has set career and personal goals all throughout his life, and he has strong conviction in that Jesus lead him through all his challenges and allowed him to reach his goals.
Career
The career Glowacz held for most of his life was in the domain of civil service and the medical field, boasting a mass communications degree. One interesting fact about Glowacz is that he partook in a monkey experiment. Afterwards, he and his team had to come up with an article about the findings. However, Glowacz always had the dream of going into the navy, and he fulfilled that dream. Surprisingly, on 1958 while he was in the navy, Glowacz proposed to his betrothed over the mail, as he was in California but she was in Corpus Christi. Together, they had 3 children and 29 grandchildren. He gives so much thanks to his wife for supporting him through all these years and helping him become the person he is today.
Legacy of Giving Back
One thing that always Glowacz always looked to was the community. He wanted to give back to the people. Now, one can find him working at the Schertz Senior Center, where he helps out our senior citizens. He also volunteers in his free time at Randolph Air Force Base with the retirees’ activity office, and with Live Oak to plan and zone the city of Schertz. In the past, he volunteered at the Live Oak Methodist Hospital in the ER and at the Randolph Pharmacy. What Glowacz likes the most about Schertz is that the people are very open and friendly. His advice for the current generation is to: “keep your eyes focused on the positive things, not on the bad things” and to “keep Christ number one in your life!” In fact, he updates a board every day at the Schertz Senior Center with an optimistic cartoon.
